All four trims of the Equinox feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. You can upgrade any trim to include Chevy's all-wheel-drive system, which is certainly worth it if you frequently drive on slick or rough roads.
Performance
Drivers appreciate the precise handling of this small SUV, particularly when navigating around tight curves. The Equinox is also easy to navigate, thanks to the direct steering that responds instantly to driver feedback. Its 1.5-liter engine is one of the more efficient options in the segment, helping to keep fuel costs under control.
Interior
Although this SUV fits into the compact segment, its interior is roomy and comfortable, offering seating for five. It also boats durable materials that feel soft to the touch. Standard comfort features include cloth upholstery and manual climate control, while the tech suite includes dual USB ports, a 7-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio, and wireless smartphone integration. You can add a power-adjustable driver's seat and upgraded driver information display, which come standard on the LT, along with illuminated sun visors. This trim is also offered with dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Safety Features
Chevy Safety Assist comes standard across all trim levels, which is a suite of advanced driver aids. It includes forward-collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, IntelliBeam headlights, and a following distance indicator. Additional options are available in the various packages, such as blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors.
